When Pavel Maria Smejkal created "1989, Beijing," he removed Wang Weilin and the tanks on Changan Street from the original photo, keeping only the instructive lines, grey pavement, and shadows of the trees. Although the things in the original photo were removed, we could see more in the picture, even more than what was originally there.

See You at the Place displays the author's frozen memory of Hong Kong after leaving the city, exuding a nostalgia and pining that go beyond geography. These "old places" have been painted over by different factors, deliberately removing the bloody violence, graffiti, or even voices of resistance, of social movements, including Yuen Long West Station, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University, stairway of Central Government Offices (the Lennon Wall), and Victoria Park. In the work, these places are very "clean" and empty, putting together a "beautiful new Hong Kong" to pay gratitude and bid farewell to the sceneries that are gone too soon.
