vawongsir born in Hong Kong, graduated with a Master's degree in Art and Politics from Goldsmiths, University of London, and obtained a Bachelor's degree from the Academy of Visual Arts at Hong Kong Baptist University. He was a visual arts teacher in Hong Kong, known for his political comics. Following the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law, the Hong Kong Education Bureau accused him of drawing "inappropriate" comics, leading to allegations of professional misconduct. He later went into exile in Taiwan. His art has been featured in "Green Bean Media" in the UK and "Flow HK" in Taiwan. He has exhibited his work in Hong Kong, Dublin, London, Sweden, and Taiwan. In 2023, he won first prize at the Hualien Art Exhibition in Taiwan for his piece "Chopsticks+."
vawongsir於香港浸會大學視覺藝術院取得學士學位,及倫敦大學金匠學院藝術與政治系取得碩士學位,曾任中學視覺藝術科教師。作品以政治漫畫/插畫為主,2020年港區國安法生效後,vawongsir作品被香港政府認為涉及反政府題材,教育局因此裁定專業失德,並導致失去教職,及後被迫流亡至台灣。目前vawongsir作品活躍於《綠豆》、《如水》等海外香港媒體。出版插畫集包括《假如讓我畫下去》、《動物農莊(港豬版)》、《加多雙筷》等,並曾在香港、台灣、英國、愛爾蘭等地舉行個人及聯合作品展。2023年憑藉作品《加多雙筷》獲臺灣洄瀾美展首獎「洄瀾獎」、《我在老地方等你》獲臺灣國立美術館全國美術展新媒體藝術類銅牌獎。
